Introducing the 2025 NIOP Rulebook

Effective April 17, 2025

We’re excited to announce the release of the 2025 version of the NIOP Trade Rulebook—now available to the public for the first time.

A few years ago, it was determined that the Rulebook needed a comprehensive update to reflect modern trade practices, evolving industry standards, and the current slate of commodities being traded. NIOP member Brett Peterson (CHS Inc.) was nominated and agreed to lead this important initiative, chairing the Rules Committee and guiding the process with dedication and insight.

Over the course of a year and a half, three subcommittees—each focused on a different section of the Rulebook—met regularly to review content, recommend updates, and improve formatting to make the Rulebook more user-friendly and easier to navigate. Throughout this process, NIOP’s General Counsel played a key role, providing legal guidance and helping ensure the updates were clear, consistent, and aligned with sound trading practices.

In 2024, the NIOP Board of Directors adopted the Rules Committee’s recommendation to make the updated Rulebook publicly available. In keeping with our mission to promote the general business welfare of those involved in the oilseed industry, we are proud to share this valuable resource with the broader trade community.
